Michael Eugene Read

Funeral services for Michael Eugene Read, 65, of Huntington will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Cemetery.

Mr. Read was born August 12, 1948 in Lufkin, Texas, and died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his residence. He resided in Angelina County most of his life. Mr. Read earned an Associate’s Degree in Drafting from Tyler Junior College, and also attended Angelina College and Stephen F. Austin State University. He retired from Lufkin Industries.

Mr. Read was an avid motorcycle rider, and loved fishing and working in his shop. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce (Colbert) Read of Huntington; sister, Joy Havard of Huntington; nieces, Stephanie Dilday and Jennifer Hopper and husband Jaime, all of Huntington; great-niece, Christie Dilday of Huntington; and great-nephews, Taylor Dilday, Jase Dilday, Hunter Hopper, Carson Hopper and Aiden Hopper, all of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Eugene Read; and nephew, Chris Dilday.

Pallbearers will be Jaime Hopper, Ray Loving, Gene Stewart, Jimmy McMullen, Dennis Quinn and Richard Nash.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the services.
