Funeral services Ina B. Holden Baxter, 77, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene and Pastor Ford Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Old Peebles Cemetery near Goodrich in Polk County.
Mrs. Baxter was born April 27, 1936 in Poolville, Texas to the late Gussie Mae (Vidler) and Calvin Whitfield Holden. She died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Baxter was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had also worked six years for Polk Oil Company as a manager. Mrs. Baxter was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church where she had also served as a Sunday School teacher. When her children were growing up, she served as a G.A. leader in Camden, Texas. She enjoyed reading and singing with her brothers and sisters. Mrs. Baxter had resided in Livingston area most of her life.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Hickman, Patricia Haynes and Susan Baxter Callison and husband Clay, all of Lufkin; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Jackson of Conroe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Douglas Baxter; son, Larry Baxter; two granddaughters, Becky Sweet and Tasha Haynes; and ten brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Mike Holden, Steve Holden, Charlie Holden, Kyle Swaggert, David Work and Keith Burnett.
Honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Lou Holden.
The family extended a special thanks to Brenda Rush, Jennifer Basham and Hospice in the Pines.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
