Levenia Lou Drake, 68, of Lufkin, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 in a Lufkin nursing facility. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mrs. Drake was born March 8, 1945 in Orange, Texas to the late Ezelle Pauline (Cox) and Rex Welton Parker. She had resided in Lufkin most of her life. Mrs. Drake was employed with the Hudson I.S.D. for more than 15 years as a bus driver. She was an avid quilter. She loved to give her quilts as gifts, and gave her quilts to all who needed one. Mrs. Drake also loved to garden, loved her flowers, and loved to fish. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gerald Drake of Lufkin; her children, Glenn Drake of Lufkin, Keven Drake and Angela Garcia of Plugerville, Michelle Shanks and husband John of Idaho, and Little Gerald Drake of Lufkin; grandchildren, Thomas Drake, Russell Drake, Aaron Drake, Galen Drake, Kiril Drake, Emlyn Drake, John Shanks, and Jacob Shanks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Liz and Ronny Bridges, Paula and Don Bridges, all of Lufkin, and Sue and Elzie Wood of Trinity; brothers and sisters-in-law, Welton and Norma Parker, Thomas and Pam Parker, and James and Lou Ann Parker, all of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and honorary neighbor, Tommy Tubbs.
