Vernice Flournoy

Funeral services for Vernice Flournoy, 82, of Wells, will be held Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Wells with Reverend Josh Luellen officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Flournoy was born May 28, 1931 in Kennard, Texas to the late Gracie Bell (Latham) and Oscar Smith Cartwright. She died Friday, July 26, 2013 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mrs. Flournoy was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being a mother and loved going to Sunday School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wells, and had lived in Wells all her life.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Larry Flournoy of Pollok, Rhonda Flournoy of Wells, Marilyn and Danny Colbert of Wells, and Darlene and Ron Frazier of Huntsville; ten grandchildren, Melanie Williamson, Kim Sessions, Jennifer Williamson and fiancé James Coogler, Jodie Cole, Kevin Colbert and wife Tiffanie, Karlee Parker, Amber Lindsey, Kacie Collins and husband Chad, Lauren Frazier, and Christen Frazier; seventeen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Glover, Jean Pounds, both of Wells, and Betty Bunyard and husband Billy of Burleson; sister-in-law, Ellen Cartwright; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Flournoy was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Flournoy; son, James Flournoy; granddaughter, Amber Lindsey; brother, Floyd Cartwright; and sister, Annie Margaret Cartwright.

Pallbearers will be Danny Colbert, Ron Frazier, Kevin Colbert, Tyler Jones, James Coogler and Chad Collins.
