Funeral services for Evelyn Barley, 89, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevan Barley and Brother M.H. Shubert officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mrs. Barley was born September 29, 1923 in Lufkin, Texas to Mary Louise (Nerren) and Oscar August Dorman, and died Thursday, July 18, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Barley was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She worked in the office of Southern Pacific Railroad for several years. She was known for growing Daylilies and was a charter member and past president of the Lufkin Hemerocallis Society. Mrs. Barley was a member of McKindree Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sisters, Jennie Mora Corbitt and husband Eddie of Lufkin, Irma Duke of Hudson and Mary Frances Hudiburgh of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Dorman of Lufkin and Margie Barley of Nacogdoches; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Truett and Betty Barley of Huntington; special caregiver, Diana Crouch of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max
Barley; brother, Oscar Taylor Dorman; and sister, Kathryn Dorman.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Barley’s nephews and great-nephews.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Karl Krohn.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.
