Funeral services for Rev. Billy M. “Buddy” Ford, 82, of Nacogdoches will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Harlie Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Rev. Ford was born October 2, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas to A.M. “Matt” and Florence (Mantooth) Ford, and died Monday, July 8, 2013 at his residence.
Rev. Ford earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1954. He was a pastor for 38 years, preaching in nine cities during that time including: Kirbyville 1965-1966, Jasper 1966-1973, Gladewater 1973-1976, Conroe 1976, Little Rock, Arkansas 1976-1983, Longview 1983-1985, Brownwood 1985-1991, Trinity Heights of Waco 1991-1995 and Gilmer 1995-2003. He was currently a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Nacogdoches.
Rev. Ford was a Soldier of the Cross. He had a great compassion for souls and loved preaching and listening to gospel music. He loved his family and was a great family man. Rev. Ford enjoyed sports and had coached basketball and football.
Survivors include his daughter, Becky Selby of Waco; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mandy Ford of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Brad Selby of Nacogdoches, Courtney Ford, Justin Ford, both of Jackson, Tennessee, Peyton Elliott and Michael Doll, both of Nacogdoches; great-grandson, Colin Ford; sister, Hester Moser; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Sadler Ford; son, Stephen Ford; brother, John Ford; and sisters, Tommie Ford, Edna Risinger and Joan Redd.
Pallbearers will be Bill Moser, Kirk Risinger, Ronny Risinger, Ron Mackey, Brad Selby and Justin Ford.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
