Robert Kenneth Rodgers, Sr.

Graveside services for Robert Kenneth Rodgers, Sr., 73, of Burke, will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Largent Cemetery Tabernacle with Pastor Ronnie Frankens officiating.

Mr. Rodgers was born April 25, 1940 in Pollok, Texas to the late Laura Meinda (Reeves) and Oscar Clayton Rodgers. He died Saturday, June 29, 2013 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Rodgers was a butcher for 50 years. He loved to fish and camp with his grandchildren. He loved to garden and enjoyed making smoked sausage. Mr. Rodgers had lived in Burke for the past nine years and previously resided in Hudson most of his life. He was a United States Army veteran, an EOD Specialist E4.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Kenneth, Jr. and Margaret English of Austin, Marilyn and Larry Coates of Garland, and Kenneth, Jr., and Wilma Rodgers of Burke; seven grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and E.G. Ratliff of Hudson; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Marie Wright Rodgers; daughter, Delilah Rodgers; and brother, Tommy C. Rodgers.

Pallbearers will be Charles McAlester, Dustin Ford, Mark Ainsworth, Raymond Watson, Mark Maddox and Rayburn Oliver.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Nick and Bobby Oliver.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Tabernacle at Largent Cemetery before the service.
