Memorial services for Merrill O. Mobraten, 92, of Huntington, will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Mobraten was born February 19, 1921 in Ambrose, North Dakota to the late Clara Pauline (Anderson) and Oscar Mobraten. He died Monday, June 17, 2013, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Mobraten had resided in Huntington since 2004, and was a former longtime resident of Lakewood, California. A licensed Aircraft and Power Plant Engineer, he had worked as a lead maintenance foreman for United Airlines for 30 years. Mr. Mobraten served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, and was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Richard Shoppe, Gayle and James Oliver, all of Pollok; son, Greg Mobraten of Huntington; four grandchildren, Deanna Scalise, Lisa Kohler, Kandis McKenna and Greg Oliver; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Glen Mobraten of Phoenix, Arizona, Russell Mobraten of Bull Head City, Arizona; sister, Carol Callahan of Anaheim, California; close friends, Jennifer Havard of Huntington, Betty Houston of Zavalla; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Mobraten, and two sons, Curtis and John Mobraten.
