Funeral services for Margie “Sister Girl” Rogers, 87, of Huntington, will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Danny Dow and Jody Windham officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Rogers was born February 20, 1926 in Groveton, Trinity County, Texas to the late Addie Mae (Shatto) and James Edward Headrick. She died Sunday, June 2, 2013, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A resident of Huntington for the past six years, she had previously lived in Lufkin most of her life. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Huntington Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edgar and Peggy Rogers of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Roger Moore, Addie and Fred Wareing, all of Lufkin; four grandchildren, Melanie Windham and husband Jody, Bryan Franklin, David Rogers, and Michelle Rogers; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Godfrey Headrick of Lufkin; sister, Lucille Jones of Alvin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Rogers, on July 23, 1998, as well as a number of brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be David Rogers, Bryan Franklin, Johnathan Windham, Timothy Windham, Brett Moore and James Pillows.
Honorary pallbearers are the men of her church.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
