Funeral services for Helen “Maxine” Mims Davis, 87, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Glenn Morton officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Simpson Campground Cemetery in Woden.
Mrs. Davis was born July 9, 1925 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Malcolm and Pearl (Newman) Mims, and died Monday, May 27, 2013 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Davis was raised in Nacogdoches County, and had resided in Lufkin for more than 40 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and wife. She was a true Christian who always tried to honor God and always do for others. She loved playing the game of forty-two and going out to eat with her friends. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Hudson United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Charles Fenley of Hudson and Nelda and Larry Cox of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Anita Bridges of Houston; daughter-in-law, Nadine Bridges of Etoile; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Ray and Patsy Mims of Woden; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, L.T. Davis; son, Curtis D. Bridges; grandson, Randy Bridges; brother, Joe Dumas Mims; sister, Agnes Bryant; and niece, Diana Schnieder.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
