Graveside services for William Morgan “Bill” McCullough, Jr., 86, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Roy Hall officiating.
Mr. McCullough was born September 2, 1926 in Durant, Oklahoma to William Morgan and Ina Parthena (Martin) McCullough, raised his family in Freeport, and died Friday, May 24, 2013 in Lufkin.
Bill served in the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps during World War II as a special agent in Japan and Korea. He was an avid bowler, loved fishing, baseball, music, hunting, cooking, jeeps, and the outdoors. He was a very creative thinker and gifted gardener. Bill and Marjorie traveled extensively in their RV and motor home. They moved to PineCrest Retirement Community in Lufkin in 2002.
Survivors include his cherished wife, Marjorie Poland McCullough of Lufkin; daughters, Marlana Clouse of Lufkin and Jean Ann Schaefer and husband Patrick of Plano; grandchildren, Erica Ann McCameron, James Morgan McCameron and Marcille Billie-Rae Schaefer, all of Plano, and Lauren McCullough of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother-in-law, Robert Poland, Sr. of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Merlene Cowart of Huntington; and numerous other relatives, including his cousin Verdia Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Captain Robert Morgan McCullough; brother, James Roy McCullough; sister, Anna Frances Anglin; and longtime friend and business partner, J.L. Massoletti.
The “Minute Market” was the first convenience store in Freeport, well known for Bill’s humorous marquees for 34 years.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carroway Funeral Home.
