Funeral services for Doris Davis, 90, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Brian Wiggins and Virginia Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Davis was born January 27, 1923 in Oakhurst, Texas to John and Venia (Williams) Wright, and died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in a local hospital. She had resided in Lufkin since 1941 and was predeceased by her first husband, Morton Halyard. She owned and operated The Lollipop Shoppe for many years.
Mrs. Davis was an accomplished seamstress and a great cook. She loved collecting antiques and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin.
Survivors include her husband, Wallace P. “Dud” Davis of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Ed Miller of Richardson; son and daughter-in-law, Morty and Louise Halyard of Lufkin; granddaughters and husbands, Elizabeth and Jason Jones of Spring, Dr. Amy and Jeremy Ross of Lufkin, Ashley and Josh Kaczynski of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Madeline Jones of Spring, Maci Ross of Lufkin, Will Kaczynski of Beaumont and Collin Ross of Lufkin; step-great-granddaughters, Brooke and Allison Kaczynski, both of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be David Kirkland, Butch Kervin, Mark Love, David Adams, Linda Whitton and David Culp.
Honorary pallbearer will be David Kaemmerling.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin Memorial Fund, 607 Jane Way Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
