Marvin C. Hanks

Funeral services for Marvin C. Hanks, 90, of Pollok will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Redtown Missionary Baptist Church in Pollok with Reverend Ross Black officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Flat Cemetery.

Mr. Hanks was born October 9, 1922 in Doucette, Texas to the late Clara Louise (Busby) and DeWitt Hanks. He died Sunday, May 5, 2013 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mr. Hanks was a retired Vice President and Engineer for Land O’Pines Dairy, following 44 years of service. He loved riding his tractor and working his cows. He also enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. Mr. Hanks was a member of Redtown Missionary Baptist Church and had lived in Pollok most of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hanks of Pollok; his children and their spouses, Charles W. and Suzanne Hanks of Monroe, Georgia, Ruby Yvonne and Joe Blake of Lufkin, Kenneth Ray and Janell Hanks of Lufkin, Roy Gene and Linda Hanks of Dayton, Tennessee, and Carolyn Kay and Michael Kimling of Pollok; seventy-two grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bennis Whitworth of Lufkin and Willard Whitworth of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hershel Whitworth and Norvell Whitworth; and two sisters, Evelyn McAdams and Alamyrl Hopson.

Pallbearers will be Keith Hanks, Aaron Hanks, Waylon Blake, Dwayne Hanks, Scott Hanks, David Kimling, Chris Davis and Chris Toombs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sand Flat Cemetery Association, 4408 W State Highway 7, Pollok, Texas 75969, Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
