J.B. Morton

Graveside services for J.B. Morton, 94, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.

Mr. Morton was born March 30, 1919 in Etoile, Texas to William and Lena (Moore) Morton, and died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at his residence. A resident of Etoile most of his life, he had resided in Lufkin for 22 years. Mr. Morton retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and owned 103 Recreation for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Mary Ann and Warren Gamel, Dr. Troy and Eunice Morton, all of Longview, Elaine and Gayland Wallace of Lufkin and Janet and George Puryear of Tomball; grandchildren and their spouses, Todd and Peggy Gamel, Heather and Kelly Stewart, Josh and Jan Morton, Meredith Morton, Foy and Ginger Wallace, Gina Puryear and Michael Puryear; 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lindell and Ann Morton of Etoile; sisters and brother-in-law, Ester Thurman and Nell and Don Anger, all of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Morton; grandson, Scott Gamel; brother, Edgar Morton; and sister, Melba King.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
