Billy Brown

Graveside services with military honors for Billy Brown, 78, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.

Mr. Brown was born June 23, 1934 in Wells, Texas to the late Edna (Gresham) and Elmer Brown. He died Sunday, April 21, 2013 in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Brown was a plant operator for 10 years at Caribou Oil Company in Utah and was retired from the Angelina County Sheriff’s Department. He served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Radford during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Brown enjoyed gambling, fishing and hunting. He also had a very good “green thumb”, and enjoyed gardening. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Carla and Robert Bradford of Austin, Jan Hendrickson and Corey Peterson of Bountiful, Utah, and Randy Martin of Spring Branch; grandchildren, Bobby and Brandon Bradford, Josh Martin, Mindie Ayon, Shawn Smith, Kathy Brown and Tiffany Skare; great-grandchildren, Kiera, Neiko, Camry, Lauren, Misty, Eli and Makala; sister, Opal Allee; brother, Alfred Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Misty Brown; grandchildren, Cody Hendrickson and Brittney Brown; and sisters, Laverne Brown and Juanita Brown.

Pallbearers will be Danny Brown, Bobby Bradford, Brandon Bradford, Josh Martin, Daryl Attaway, Darick Attaway and David Goff.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday morning at Carroway Funeral Home.
