Funeral services Billy Watson, 82, of Zavalla, will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington with Brother Brian Williams and Brother Greg Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery.
Mr. Watson was born August 14, 1930 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to the late Ella (Hammontree) and Claudie Carlton Watson. He died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Watson had lived in Zavalla since 2000 and was a former resident of Houston. He had worked in Management for various construction companies, the last being Hale Mills Construction. He was a retired reserve Deputy Sheriff in Harris County. Mr. Watson had an Associate degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Watson previously served as a deacon at WoodForest Baptist Church in Houston, and was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, JoAnn McNeese Watson of Zavalla; daughters and sons-in-law, Carla Griffin of Highlands, Sherri and Scott Brymer of Austin, and Ronda and Eddie Arnold of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Cassie Smith and husband Jonathan of Katy, Lydia Purcell and husband Will of Pearland, Kristina Parrish and husband Trey of Covington, Louisiana, Michael Arnold and wife Lindsey of Lufkin, Jessica Brymer, Joseph Brymer, Brianca Brymer, all of Austin, and Carson Arnold of Huntington; five great grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Timothy Smith, Madeline Smith, all of Katy, Jade Brymer of Austin, Paisley Arnold of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete and Linda Watson of Kingwood, Richard and Kathryn Watson of Hartshorne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Nicholas Griffin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Adrianna Watson, Carlock and Norma Watson; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Joe Belusko; and sisters-in-law, Imogene Watson and Barbara Watson.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Watson, Scott Brymer, Jimmy Watson, Jonathan Smith, Michael Arnold, Eddie Arnold, Carson Arnold and Will Purcell.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lakes Area Hospice, P.O. Box 2086, Jasper, Texas 75951; or to the Salem Missionary Baptist Church Youth Fund, 963 Ralph Nerren Road, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon before the service at the church.
