Memorial services for L.J. "Larry" Adair, 68, of Huntington, will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Forest Baptist Church in Huntington with Bro. Brad Forrest, Bro. James O. Forrest and Bro. Mark Forrest officiating.
Mr. Adair was born June 13, 1944 in Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas to the late Ollie Mabel (Scott) and Seth Raymond Adair, Sr. He died Saturday, March 16, 2013 in a Lufkin hospital.
Larry was a 1963 graduate of Santa Fe High School, and served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years as a fire fighter. He worked with Adair and Sons for more than 25 years as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Larry drove for Andrews Transportation of Diboll for approximately 10 years from 1990 to 2000. He worked for several construction companies for years prior to getting his own Peterbilt truck and hauling loads OTR. He has driven all across the United States, Alaska and Canada. He operated a bulldozer from time to time for Mr. Marvin McDonald, as well as helping him move FEMA trailers to their needed destinations. On occasion, he would drive to Florida, Alabama, South Texas and other locations to haul vehicles or trailers back to Jasper for Mr. McDonald. Larry also managed the McDonald Car Wash and Storage when needed and helped his brother at the Huntington location for many years. He was a member of the Lions Club, an Eagle Scout, and a Baptist for 58 years.
Survivors include his wife of seven years, Brenda Adair of Huntington; son, Lance Adair of Troutdale, Oregon; daughters, Rhonda Carson of Boise, Idaho, Sue Wilson and husband Ken of Mt. Enterprise, and Angela Unsell of Lufkin; brothers, Ron Adair of Huntington and Roger Adair of Richmond; sister, Lola Rose of Zavalla; four grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
