Powell S. Temple

Funeral services for Powell S. Temple, 76, of Hudson will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother William Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.

Mr. Temple was born August 9, 1936 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Burnis and Olean Beatrice (Shoemaker) Temple, and died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Hudson.

Mr. Temple owned and operated Temple Brothers Construction for 21 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing the Neches River. He also enjoyed growing a garden with his granddaughter Amber every year. Mr. Temple was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Billie Temple of Hudson; sons and daughter-in-law, Stanley E. and Julie Temple of Hudson and Gary W. Temple of San Antonio; daughter, Lisa Sitze of Lufkin; grandchildren, Luke Temple, Zach Temple, Sara Temple, Amber Sitze and Devin Sitze; great-grandchildren, Christian and Carman Doggett, Kaedence, Kamrin, Kalaya and Kinleigh Sitze; brother and sister-in-law, Leeland and Helen Temple of Hudson; sisters and brother-in-law, Elaine and Walter Turner of Lufkin, Liz Swor of Hudson and Mary Henderson of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jared Temple; and brother, Gaston Temple.

Pallbearers will be Doug Temple, Devin Sitze, Luke Temple, Zach Temple, Jay Don Bailey, Mike Stracener and Richard Womack.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
