George Gilbert Ford

Funeral services for George Gilbert Ford, 59, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mr. Ford was born December 13, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas to Gilbert Glen and Janice (Neill) Ford, and died Thursday, February 28, 2013 in San Antonio. He had resided in Lufkin for 26 years.

Mr. Ford served in the 42nd Airborne Ranger Division of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver, and had been employed with Fleetwood Energy Services for 12 years. Mr. Ford was a member of the Lighthouse of Prayer Church.

Mr. Ford was a loving husband of 23 years, devoted father, Pop Pop, and #1 Texas A&M fan.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Ford of Lufkin; children and their spouses, Tasha and Jeromy Burnette, Andy and Keri Ackerman, all of Lufkin, and Jodi and Altus Roam of Huntington; grandchildren, Tanner Ford Burnette, Kayden Ackerman, Hayleigh Ackerman, Tyler, Lacey and Ethan Roam; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura and Gerald Schmidt of Chandler, Elizabeth and John Subocz of Austin and Amy Jo Smotherman of Lufkin; brother, Mike Ford of Chandler; mother-in-law, Mary Erbey of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue and Joe Hernandez of Hudson and Tracy and Tim Fair of Shepherd, Michigan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Karen Erbey of Lufkin and Doug and Teresa Erbey of Etoile; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, James Floyd Erbey, Sr.; and nephew, William Ray Lovett.

Pallbearers will be Casey Erbey, Chris Battles, Jonathan Erbey, Eric Elliott, Shawn Elliott, Kevin Waterman, Thomas Rushing and Chris Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be fellow team drivers of Fleetwood Energy Services.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
