Flossie Lunsford

Funeral services for Flossie Lunsford, 89, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the McKindree Cemetery.

Mrs. Lunsford was born February 24, 1923 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Maude (Owens) and Eli Coats. She died Sunday, February 10, 2013 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mrs. Lunsford was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and cooking for her family. Mrs. Lunsford was a member of McKindree Baptist Church and had resided in Lufkin most of her life.

She is survived by her son, Jimmie Lunsford of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Lunsford of Redtown; grandchildren, Linda and Jerry Miller, Emily Lunsford Duke, Allen and Gail Lunsford, Stefanie and Michael Hicks, Michael Lunsford, Deidre and Jason Tucker, and Jennifer Kleiman; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She also leaves behind several longtime special friends, Sue Dudley, Alice Loftin, Betty Brown, Clint and Amber Dudley, C.J. Rowland, and Lisa Marie Rowland.

Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, A.C. Lunsford; parents Eli and Maude Coats of Nacogdoches; brothers, Thomas Coats, Erskin Coats, Lifus Coats; sisters, Bessie Coats Gentry and Nora Coats Moore; great grandson, Matt Miller; and longtime friend and neighbor, Mary Loftin.

Pallbearers will be Allen Lunsford, Michael Lunsford, Jerry Miller, Jason Tucker, Seth Basham and Calvin (Bubba) Loftin.

Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Dudley, L.G. Moore, David McShan and Scott Pearson.

The family of Flossie Lunsford would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sudheer Karnati and his staff for the many years of care and concern showed to their loved one.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
