Funeral services for Donald Elvis Hudnall, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Shane Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesville Cemetery.
Mr. Hudnall was born June 22, 1929, in Huntington, Texas, to the late Thelma (Kirkland) and Walker Lamar Hudnall. He died Saturday, March 23, 2013 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Hudnall had been a self-employed salesman for more than 40 years, selling western goods and veterinary supplies. He had lived in Lufkin most of his life. Mr. Hudnall proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, served on the USS McKean DD/DDR784, and also participated in the Inchon Invasion. He was a great family man who taught his children good morals, how to work hard, and how to have fun. Mr. Hudnall was very involved with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Survivors include his three daughters, Donna Gardner of Lufkin; Dawn Cotton and husband James Eckles of Huntington, and Debby Elliott of Lufkin; five grandchildren and their spouses, Nick and Heather Gardner, Jessica and Bryan Shelley, Jennifer and Trey Thompson, Diane Minter, and Danny Elliott, Jr.; great grandchildren, C.J. Franks, Morgan Franks, Madison Minter, Hannah Gardner, David Shelley, Noah Gardner and Nathaniel Thompson; special aunt, Gene Behannon of Henderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hudnall was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hudnall; brother, Darwin Hudnall; and sister, Doris Williams.
Pallbearers will be Frank Williams, Charles Hudnall, Vernon Hudnall, Lin Marcantel, James Cotton and Greg Vincze.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hosea Forrest, Don Harrison, Buddy Kirkland and Gene Bennefield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Parkwood Place, Woodland Heights Medical Center, Dr. Kyle Krohn, Dr. Musa Khan and Dr. Jose Capellan.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
