Ralph L. Rash

Graveside services for Ralph L. Rash, 85, of Wells will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sand Flat Cemetery with Brother Grant Hanes officiating.

Mr. Rash was born July 13, 1927 in Dalhart, Texas to Irene (Burkhed) and John Henry Rash, Sr., and died Thursday, February 7, 2013 in a local nursing home. He had resided in Wells since 1998.

Mr. Rash served with the U.S. Merchant Marines and retired from the Lufkin State School. He enjoyed playing chess and checkers, and loved carpentry and woodworking. He liked making toys and birdhouses. Mr. Rash was a member of Lakeway Baptist Church in Trinity County.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Rash of Wells; grandson, Chris Moore and wife Tracy of Huntington; granddaughter, Robyn Martin and husband Randy of Pollok; and great-grandchildren, Britani, Casidi and Destini Moore of Lufkin and Josh and Sara Martin of Pollok.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Betty Jean Pigg; sons, James Ralph Rash and Albert Wayne Rash; and brother, John H. Rash, Jr.
