Marquerite Ricks

Funeral services for Marguerite Ricks, 97, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ricks was born June 21, 1915 in DeRidder, Louisiana to the late Owen and Carrie (Roberts) Russell, and went to be with her Heavenly Father Wednesday, February 6, 2013.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a very good cook and her grandchildren loved her smothered steak and chocolate pie.

Mrs. Ricks was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church. She loved working in her yard and was a member of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club. She was also a member of the New Era Study Club and enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends, and family.

Survivors include her son, Don Ricks of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sylvia Ricks of Lufkin; granddaughter, Kelly Ricks of Katy; granddaughter, Amanda and her husband Peter Cain of Katy; great-grandchildren, William Matthew Ricks, Elizabeth Clare Cain and Connor Landis Cain; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.O. Ricks, Jr.; sister, Iris Lang; and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and June Russell.

Pallbearers will be Peter Cain, Pat Harris, Kent Martin, Jim McCormick, Clay Parmer and Ron Ricks.

The family extends special thanks to the caring staffs of PineCrest George Henderson, PineCrest Health Care, Hospice in the Pines, Dr. Tom Willis, Dr. Richard Roby, and Connie Monson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Carroway Funeral Home.
