Nelda Jean Brown Gibson

Funeral services for Nelda Jean Brown Gibson, 68, of Moscow, Texas, will be held Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church near Corrigan with Reverend Lesly Wilkinson and Reverend Charlie Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in the Stryker Cemetery.
Mrs. Gibson was born September 5, 1943 in Houston, Texas. She died Friday, October 7, 2011 in a Corrigan nursing facility.
Mrs. Gibson was a retired Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice following 15 years of service. She was a member of Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Corrigan Chapter #631. Mrs. Gibson enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crafts, but most of all, being with her family. She graduated from high school in Houston and completed business courses at San Jacinto College in Houston. She had been a resident of Moscow for the past 21 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Gibson of Moscow; sons, Albert Todd and wife Karen of Houston, Garry Todd and wife Tanya of Danbury; daughters, Debbie Hurley and husband Marvin of Corrigan, Kimberly Bell and husband William of Corrigan; mother, Neoma Stone of Corrigan; sisters, Elizabeth Greenwood and husband Marcus of Corrigan, Lori Lowe and husband Jack of Sugar Land; grandchildren, Tyler Murphy, Austin Reeves, Marshall Reeves, Gregory Nobles, Levi Hurley, Lane Hurley, Garry Todd II., Summer Todd, Matthew Tankersley, Patrick Tankersley, Kody Link and Kylie Todd; her expected first great grandson, Carson Cash Murphy; her special niece who was like a daughter to her, Lisa Gibson and her children Ryan Gibson and Kelly Gibson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Wilson Brown, and her brother, Charles Lee Brown, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Murphy, Gregory Nobles, Austin Reeves, Kody Link, Ryan Gibson and Matthew Tankersley.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
