Lawrence Brady Flournoy

Funeral services for Lawrence Brady Flournoy, 90, of Diboll will be held Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Flournoy was born October 26, 1921 in San Augustine, Texas to the late William Franklin Flournoy, Jr. and Isabell (Galberth) Flournoy, and died Friday, October 28, 2011 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Flournoy resided in Angelina County most of his life. He retired from Angelina Chevrolet Cadillac, where he worked as a mechanic for 42 years. Mr. Flournoy served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Pacific, as a Sergeant in the Airborne Engineers.

Mr. Flournoy was a Christian man with a loving heart. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Flournoy enjoyed the great outdoors, his family and friends. His presence on earth will be greatly missed and his memory will be deeply cherished.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sharon Flournoy of Lufkin and Fred and Cecilia Flournoy of Diboll; grandchildren, Janie Thomas and husband David of Garrison, William Franklin Flournoy and wife Jamie of Diboll, Terri Marshall and husband Chris of South Lake, and Stacey Flournoy and wife Jill of Lufkin; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special nephew, David Crain and wife Joyce of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Flournoy was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Vernell Flournoy; and son, Gerald Flournoy.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice in the Pines and Trinity Mission Nursing Home for the care given to Mr. Flournoy.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
