Mary K. Burton

Graveside services for Mary K. Burton, 93, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Pastor Chris Taylor officiating.

Mrs. Burton was born October 12, 1918 in Carter, Oklahoma to the late Bessie May (Parrish) and O.C. Heard, and died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in Lewisville, Texas.

Mrs. Burton resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was a poet and published writer. Mrs. Burton loved to sing, write songs, and dance. She was a member of the Lufkin Garden Club and the Lufkin First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis, Jr. and Debra Burton of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Pflughoft of Lewisville and Mary Beth and Allen Shook of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Curtis (Trey) III and Ruby Burton of Lufkin, Scott and Jennifer Burton, Sarah and Rich Garrad, all of McKinney, Todd Hayes of Lewisville, Jennifer and Shawn Burdick of Dallas, Chris and Haley Taylor of Prosper and Lauren Taylor of Boston, Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Julia Cook of Lufkin, Hunter and Hudson Burton of McKinney, Zoie and Zia Burdick of Dallas, Connor Hayes of Garland and Brittany Hayes of Orlando, Florida; brother, Perry Heard of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Jo Heard of Lubbock; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis R. Burton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Burton's grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday morning at Carroway Funeral Home.
