R.B. Forrest

Funeral services for R. B. Forrest, 76, of Huntington, will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington with Brother Greg Sanders and Brother Eddie Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery.
Mr. Forrest was born October 9, 1935 in Huntington, Texas to the late Zula Iola (Fancher) and Lloyd Martin Forrest. He died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his home in Huntington, Texas.
Mr. Forrest was a retired iron worker and horse trainer, and had lived in Huntington all his life. He served his country from July 1955 until July 1959 in the United States Navy, reaching the rank of DC3, and was the recipient of a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Forrest was a lifetime member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Christian man and a family man, and he was an avid hunter and horseman.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mildred Lanell Forrest of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jim Hamilton II. of Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Doris Grimes of Fort Worth, Yvonne Pinner, Jo and Charles McCaskill, and June and Preston Williford, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce and J.L. Collins, Margie and Raymond Tomez, all of Huntington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding him in death were his son, Robert (Robbie) Brooks, Jr.; his parents, Zula and Lloyd Forrest; brother, A.J. Forrest; and sisters, Imogene Ramsey and Helen Forrest.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hamilton II., Lemon Grimes, Jr., Keith Carrell, Kenny Carrell, Clyde Fussell and Robert Preston Williford, Jr. Honorary pallbearer is Gerald Norris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 965 Ralph Nerren Rd., Huntington, TX 75949.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
