Graveside services for Mettie Sandusky, 88, of Etoile will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.
Mettie Eralene Sandusky was born May 23, 1923 in Alvarado, Texas to the late Alvin John Prince and Alberta Freeda (Brack) Prince. She died Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Arlington, Texas. Mettie was the ninth of ten children.
Mettie married her best friend and love of her life, Dwight Loren (Sandy) Sandusky, in August 1971. After retiring from Ferranti International Controls in 1989, she and Sandy immediately moved to Etoile, Texas to live in their new home on Sam Rayburn Lake. They enjoyed several years of fishing and spending time with their friends in their new community. She was a member of the Shirley Creek Baptist Church.
After the loss of Sandy in 2005, Mettie moved to Bedford, Texas to be near her daughter, Kristy and son-in-law, Ronnie. Mettie lived independently at Eden Estates Retirement Community. She quickly made several good friends and was known for always having a warm and friendly smile for everyone. She kept busy by volunteering at the ""Country Store"" at Eden Estates and playing bridge, dominoes and bingo on almost a daily basis. Mettie loved going out to eat and especially enjoyed telling her friends at Eden Estates where she had been. Most of all ? she looked forward to spending time with her family.
Mettie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight Loren Sandusky; and two sons, Otis Ray Alexander and Johnny Lane Alexander.
Survivors include her son, Michael Richard Sandusky; daughter, Kristy Alexander Barton; devoted son-in-law, Ronnie Barton; daughter-in-law, Glennie Jo Alexander; grandchildren, Stephen Lane Alexander, Michael Anthony Alexander, Holly Sandusky Reid, Michele Barton Henricksen, Johnny Lane Alexander, Jr., Jason Alexander, Kyle Thomas Sandusky, Ryan Michael Sandusky and Dustin Wade Alexander; great- grandchildren, Kelcie Alexander, Jacob Alexander, Shelbi Kuykendall, Koby Alexander, Corbin Sadler, Whitlee Hendricksen, Emily Henricksen and Hannah Loren Reid; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Barton, Gary Henricksen, Stephen Lane Alexander, Michael Anthony Alexander, Johnny Lane Alexander, Jr., and Dustin Wade Alexander.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
