Joyce A. Allen

Funeral services for Joyce A. Allen, 84, of the Central Community will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend R.G. ""Bud"" Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Allen was born December 20, 1926 in Shiner, Texas to the late Hilda Ella (Blume) and Oscar August Hinze, and died Thursday, November 10, 2011 in a local hospital. She had resided in Central since the 1960's and co-owned and operated Alton Allen Grocery with her husband for many years. Mrs. Allen attended O'Quinn Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Vince Minefee of Hudson; daughters, Karen Smith of Central and Rhonda Norris of Georgetown, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Malcom and Juli Allen of Lufkin; grandchildren, Zach Minefee, currently deployed with the U.S. Air Force, Jackie Norris of Georgetown, Louisiana, Meagan Minefee, Reagan Minefee, both of Hudson, Hunter Allen and Colby Allen, both of Lufkin; great-grandson, Brendan Minefee of Huntington; stepdaughters, June Tillar and husband Harold and LuAnn Sides and husband Alec, all of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Helen Hinze of Katy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Alton O. Allen; stepdaughter, Janice McClure Day; brother, Dennis Hinze; infant brother, Lester Hinze; and son-in-law, William O. Norris, Sr.

Pallbearers will be Andy Tucker, Billy Ray Allen, Randy Luce, Vince Minefee, David Crawford and Newt Ashley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Allen, Bob Tucker, David Hinze and Wilbur ""Speedy"" Hinze.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones beginning at 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
