David E. Murphy

Funeral services for David E. Murphy, 56, of Lufkin will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Killiam officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

David was born August 26, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Loy Beth (Shofner) and Edward H. ""Dick"" Murphy, and died Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at his residence. He resided in Angelina County most of his life and was a 1975 graduate of Huntington High School. David served in the U.S. Navy and was employed with Lowe's. He was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Christie Murphy of Shreveport, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, SSG Chris and Allie Murphy of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Teresa L. Hopson and Richard Hopson of Lufkin and Paula Martin and husband John of Georgia; special love, Susan Wilde of Lufkin; nieces and nephews, Dori Hopson Lair and husband Eric of Lufkin, Ryan Hopson and wife Kelly of Lindale and Kolby Hopson of Lufkin; great-nephews, Blaise, Bransen, Braden and Breece Cathcart of Lufkin, Barrett and Jack Ryan Hopson of Lindale, Carter and Lane Lair of Lufkin; aunts and uncles, Lola and Jeff Hanchey, Emo Jean Walters, all of Huntington, Glen T. and Jo Harrison of Etoile, E.B. Berry of Huntington and Marthalene Harrison of Fort Worth; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be SSG Chris Murphy, Donnie Martin, Richard Hopson, Kolby Hopson, Ryan Hopson, Keith Smith and Travis Nerren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Green, Frank Williams, Wendell Harrison, Greg Harrison, Tim Harrison, David Glenn Harrison, Mark Berry, Cody Wilde and Eric Lair.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
