Joe C. Powell

Graveside services with military honors for Joe C. Powell, 70, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Marshall Coffey officiating.

Mr. Powell was born August 22, 1941 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Justine (Wilkerson) and Jack Powell, and died Friday, November 11, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mr. Powell was a decorated Vietnam veteran, having served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Army. He had resided in Lufkin since 1980 and was employed with Temple Inland for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Erika Powell of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Rachel Powell of Port Neches, David and Becky Powell of Lufkin and Jason Powell of Denton; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Keith Christie of Edmonds, Washington; grandchildren, Zachry Powell, Cheyenne Powell, both of Nacogdoches, Kayla Powell and Alyssa Powell, both of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
