Vernon Leroy Speicher

Memorial services for Vernon LeRoy Speicer, Jr., 67, of Hudson will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Wes Miller officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Speicher was born March 2, 1944 in Jennings, Louisiana to Eldora (Lognion) and Vernon L. Speicher, Sr., and died Saturday, November 12, 2011 in a Nacogdoches hospital.

Mr. Speicher had resided in Hudson for 29 years. He worked as a piping designer for over 40 years, 15 of which was with Englobal Engineering. Mr. Speicher liked to hunt, fish and play golf. He loved the beach, and enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports. Mr. Speicher was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a coach, mentor and child advocate. He was the perfect example of what a father and grandfather should be.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Darla Speicher of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Marie Speicher of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Katy and Joey Farrell of Hudson; grandchildren Maranda Speicher, Ryan Speicher, Braxton Farrell and Kyleigh Farrell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and Steve Jones of Lumberton and Robin and Rusty Herbst of Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
