Funeral services for Bernice Foster, 93, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jackie Snarr officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery in Houston County.
Mrs. Foster was born December 6, 1917 in Kennard, Texas to the late Effie (Ratledge) and Lewis Morgan. She died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the PineCrest Retirement Community.
Mrs. Foster was a homemaker and a beloved wife, sister and aunt. She married George H. Foster on February 2, 1939, and they were married for 61 years until his death in March 2000. They lived in Brazoria, Texas for 36 years and enjoyed camping and square dancing as they traveled around the United States. They especially loved fishing and boating on Chocolate Bayou. In 1975, they retired to Lake Sam Rayburn. Mrs. Foster moved to the PineCrest Retirement Community in Lufkin in 2003. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Foster in death were her parents; her husband; one sister, Esther Wills; and five brothers, Norman Morgan, Morris Morgan, John Neil Morgan, L.T. Morgan and Frank Lee Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Reginald Wills, Ron Wills, Johnny Morgan, Lloyd Finch, Kenon Foster and Clint Yeary.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
