E.A. Steel

Graveside services for E.A. ""Johnny"" Steel, 74, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pennington Cemetery in Trinity County with Brother D.R. McNaughton officiating.

Mr. Steel was born July 18, 1937 in Houston County, Texas, the youngest son of Artie Lildya (Ponder) and Eliga Steel. He died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in a local nursing home. Mr. Steel worked in the logging industry as a log cutter back when chainsaws were used. He had also been a dozer operator.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Steel of Lufkin; daughters, Janice Johnson of Apple Springs and Paula Hanes of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Steel of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, Timothy and Lisa Steel of Reklaw, Jonathan and Caryn Steel and Jason and Stephanie Steel, all of Lufkin; 10 grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; sister, Dorothy Luker of Lufkin; brother, Henry Steel of Apple Springs; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first son, Johnny Ray Steel.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Steel's sons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
