Chester R. Davis

Funeral services for Chester R. Davis, 75, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bryan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Davis was born January 19, 1936 in Martinsville, Texas to the late Minnie Ada (King) and John Ervin Davis, and died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his residence.

A former resident of Center, Mr. Davis had resided in Lufkin since 1973. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1954-1960 and retired from Texas Foundries following 23 years of employment. Mr. Davis loved working with wood, fishing, and working in his yard. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ethelda ""Scooter"" Davis of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jay ""Randy"" and Alicia Davis of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Randy Baggett of Mansfield, Arkansas and Jo and Dale Manthey of Kevin, Montana; adopted son and wife, Ronald and Glenda Ulrich of Pollok; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Alene Lewis; brothers, Earl Davis and Harvey Davis; and sister-in-law, Betty Davis.

Pallbearers will be Chad Stewart, Charles Warrick, Ron Ulrich, Earl Randolph, Marvin Best and Ronnie Stanbery.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Sunday School class at Providence Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4423 Ted Trout Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
