Tommy Gene Sims

Memorial services for Tommy Gene Sims, 61, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church with Pastor Ford Adkins officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Sims was born February 11, 1950 in Lufkin Texas, to Marjorie Joyce (Grisham) and Wilburn Johnny Sims. He died Friday, December 2, 2011 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Sims was a retired Deputy with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office following 16 years and 1 month of service. He was a former rodeo cowboy, competing as a bull rider and bareback rider. Mr. Sims served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam in the 101st Airborne Rangers. He was a dedicated member of his church, Cross Timbers Cowboy Church, and had lived in Lufkin most of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Sims of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Anthony and Lisa Sims of Telluride, Colorado, Jason Brent and Lauren Sims of Lufkin; grandson, Hayden Wyatt Sims of Lufkin; grandchildren, Heather Barton, Cory Lowery and Trevor Lowery, all of Telluride, Colorado; great grandson to come, J.J. Robertson; sister, Darlene Sims of Galveston; and numerous aunts, uncles and dozens of loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Youlanda Marceal Sims; parents, Wilburn and Marjorie Sims; and parents-in-law, Red and Evelyn Richards.
