Barbara L. Sanders

Funeral services for Barbara L. Sanders, 80, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mrs. Sanders was born March 3, 1931 in Trinity County, Texas, to the late Viola (Caples) and Sherman Wilkins. She died Monday, December 5, 2011 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mrs. Sanders married Jim Sanders July 6, 1949. She was the best of mothers to Sherry, Jim, Jr., and Tony. She was a cub scout den mother, a 4-H leader, and president of the PTA at East Ward Elementary School. After her children were brought up, Bobbye became a beautician and was elected president of the Beauticians' Association. Later she served as president of the United Methodist Women of St. Paul's Methodist Church. Finally, she was on the Board of Directors of the Whitehouse Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Sanders of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Lynn and Edward MacDonald of Highland Village; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim, Jr., and Rebecca Sanders of Columbus, Ohio, and Tony and Jana Sanders of Heath, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Renfro, Josh Sanders, Toni Lynn Light, Gian-Carlo Rando, Kristen Sanders, Jessica Sanders and Natalie Sanders; great-grandchildren, Harrison Light, Aidan Timofte, Harper Light and Isabella Rebecca Renfro; as well as a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Mrs. Sanders in death were her parents; brother, W.R. Wilkins; sister, Sarah Simpson; and granddaughters, Rebecca Rando and Sharon Anastasia Rando.

With a deep bow of gratitude, we give thanks to God for the gift of Bobby in our lives.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Kirkland, Dr. Don Sanders, Fred Phillips, Paul Phillips, Steven Sanders and Ken McPherson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
