Oscar E. Ditsworth

Funeral services for Oscar E. ""Buck"" Ditsworth, 73, of Pollok will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Brewer and Reverend Cliff Smiley officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Ditsworth was born August 29, 1938 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Linnie (Pierce) and Everet Oscar ""E.O."" Ditsworth, and died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in a local hospital.

A former Lufkin resident, Mr. Ditsworth had resided in Pollok for 37 years. He retired from the Abitibi Paper Mill following 41 years of employment, and was a member of the Allentown Congregational Methodist Church. Mr. Ditsworth loved fishing, watching baseball, building knives and spending time with his family. He also loved traveling, and he and his wife Lynn traveled across America after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Ditsworth of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Coy and Teresa Ditsworth of Pollok; grandsons, Collin and Clayton Ditsworth of Pollok; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Bridges of Onalaska, Augusta and Taylor Brewer of Nacogdoches, and Joyce and Edward Terrell of Diboll; special friends, Bill and Doris Melton of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ditsworth was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar William Ditsworth; and brother-in-law, Charles Bridges.

Pallbearers will be Collin Ditsworth, Clayton Ditsworth, Travis Sparkman, Greag Modisette, Daniel Lakey and Steven Harris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Ditsworth's nephews: David Ditsworth, Eddie Ditsworth, Joe Ditsworth, Randy Brewer, Tim Brewer and Lee Brewer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allentown Congregational Methodist Church, 2339 FM 843, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
