Eleene Mccoy Stephens

Funeral services for Eleene McCoy Stephens, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, January 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stephens was born March 1, 1928 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Dan and Myrtie McCoy. She died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Pinecrest Retirement Community.
Mrs. Stephens was a retired District Engineer Secretary for the Texas Highway Department following 27 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and had resided in Lufkin all her life. Mrs. Stephens was a former member of the Pilot Club. She loved to paint with oils and work in her flower gardens.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sara Stephens of Lufkin, Coy and Lisa Stephens of Conroe; daughters, Cindy Stephens Hughes of Hamilton and Anna Stephens Torres of Houston; sister, Helen M. Roming of Lufkin; brother, Denton McCoy of Lufkin; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Stephens in death was her husband, Vastine Stephens, and brother, James McCoy.
Pallbearers will be David Johnson, James Holmes, Dennis Waller, David McCoy, Bobby Jones and Gary Waller.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4303 FM 842, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
