Graveside services for Benita June Smith, 85, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo.
Mrs. Smith was born August 15, 1926 in Meadow, Texas to the late T.C. and Eva (Harris) Lucas, and died Monday, January 9, 2012 in a local nursing home. A former resident of Colorado City, she had resided in Lufkin since 1986. Mrs. Smith was a china painting artist, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Danna and Wiley ""Buster"" Chandler of Hudson; grandchildren, Ron Fryar of Lufkin, Martie Hudgins of Austin and Jerry Chandler of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Brandon Fryar of Stafford, Virginia, Daniel Fryar of Nacogdoches, Laura Fryar of Lufkin, BreiAnn Fryar of Nacogdoches, Kennedy Hudgins of Austin and Kaitlyn Chandler of McKinney; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Teddie Kunshick of Georgetown, Connie and Paul Dehnel of Austin and Linda Lucas of Orlando, Florida; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Bert Smith, Jr.; and grandson, Brad Fryar.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or the First United Methodist Church Prayer Pager, 805 East Denman Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carroway Funeral Home.
