Funeral services for Marie Harber, 85, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Harber was born September 3, 1926 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Gertrude (Shivers) and Claude Thompson. She died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in a Port Arthur nursing facility.
Mrs. Harber was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was an avid reader and loved Louie L'amour books. Mrs. Harber enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and spending time with her great grandchildren. She had resided in Angelina County most of her life.
Survivors include her son, Joe Harber of Nederland; grandson and wife, Charles Allan and Jessica Harber of Nederland; great grandchildren, Chad Allan Harber and Charlee Paige Harber, both of Nederland; and sisters, Linda McClain of Lufkin and Joyce Davis of China Springs.
Preceding Mrs. Harber in death were her husband, Charlie Harber; daughter-in-law, Connie Harber; grandson, Chad M. Harber; and two sisters, Mary and Lois.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday morning preceding the service at the funeral home.
