John H. Laforge

Graveside services with military honors for John H. LaForge, 69, of Gary will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corinth Cemetery, near Timpson in Shelby County, with Brother Rodney LaForge officiating.

Mr. LaForge was born September 16, 1942 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to Lewis and Ruth (Hill) LaForge, and died Thursday, January 19, 2012 in a local hospital.

A longtime resident of Lufkin, Mr. LaForge had resided in Gary for seven years. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Lufkin Industries following 27 ½ years of service as an electrician. Mr. LaForge was a member of the East Texas Patriot Guard Riders and the Lufkin V.F.W. Post 1836. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia LaForge of Gary; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Tonya LaForge of Lufkin and Russell ""Rusty"" and Tonia LaForge of Huntington; grandchildren, Justin LaForge, Andrew Day, Kendall LaForge and Karley LaForge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy James and Maude LaForge of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Jimmy LaForge of Baytown, Paul LaForge of Kilbourne, Louisiana, Larry and Linda LaForge of Paris, and Rodney and Evelyn LaForge of Bastrop; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annette and Wayne Ellison of Mena, Arkansas, Virginia and Henry ""Bear"" Meyers of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Willie Nell and Jerry Brown of Columbia, Louisiana and Gussie Marie LaForge of Shreveport, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Chris Ward, Buck Hance, Robert Palka, Harold Whitlock, Lewis Long and Wayne Utzman.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
