Burton Jones

Funeral services for Burton Jones, 57, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Concord Baptist Church in Zavalla with Brother Coy Roach and Brother M.H. Shubert officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born July 19, 1954 in Lufkin, Texas to Blanch (Weeks) and Delbert ""Jack"" Jones, and died Sunday, January 22, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Jones was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1971-1978, and retired from the Texas Department of Transportation following more than 20 years of service. Mr. Jones enjoyed trail riding and being with friends and family. He was a member of the New Life United Pentecostal Church in Huntington.

Survivors include his mother, Blanch Lefler of Hudson; sons, James Jones of Lufkin and David Davis of Colmesneil; daughters and son-in-law, Crystal Jones and Michelle and Jeff Thomas, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Zachary Moreno of Diboll, Mindy Jones of Hudson, Ethan Thomas and Katelynn Thomas, both of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Kay Jones of Zavalla, Martin and Pam Jones of Pollok and Delbert and Vicki Jones of Shawnee Prairie; sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie and Dean Wesley and Mittie Ray, all of Hudson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert ""Jack"" Jones; and grandson, Landen Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wilson, John Parker, Lee Nunnley, Kelly Collins, Micah Jones and Lesli Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Dykes and Robert Jones.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin, and will continue at Concord Baptist Church until service time.
