Florence T. (Phelan) Donovan

A memorial mass for Florence T. ""GG"" (Phelan) Donovan, 89, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Donovan was born February 16, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of nine children, to William and Lorena (Tatreau) Phelan, and died Thursday, January 26, 2012, peacefully in the arms of her daughter, Patricia, at her home in Lufkin.

Mrs. Donovan had resided in Lufkin for the past two years and formerly resided in South Carolina, a state she dearly loved, for many years. She was married to William E. Donovan for 47 years and was a New York businesswoman, working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 27 years. She was born and raised a Catholic, loved her faith and the Good Lord. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and was very fond of her wonderful pastor, Father Joe. She was affectionately known as GG to her precious great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Patricia DiLorenzo of Lufkin; her wonderful grandsons, Patrick DiLorenzo and wife Kristen, of Irmo, South Carolina and Michael DiLorenzo and wife Brianna of Lufkin; five great-grandchildren, Justin Morey, Christopher DiLorenzo and Logan DiLorenzo, all of Irmo, South Carolina and Emily DiLorenzo and Olivia DiLorenzo, both of Lufkin; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Patricia would like to thank Dr. Kevin Farris for his loving concern and care and also the team at Affinity Hospice, who gave so much support and love - Margie, Patti, Jackie and Sherry. They truly do God's work on earth - thank you.
