Velma Dee Palmore Modisette

Funeral services for Velma Dee Palmore Modisette, 81, of Pollok, will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Charlie Wisdom and Brother Eddie Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Modisette was born March 22, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Mary Alice (Chatman) and William Dewitt Palmore. She died Saturday, January 28, 2012 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Modisette had been employed as a secretary for Lehman Manufactured Housing for six years, for Perry Brothers for 12 years, and for Suburbal Propane for eight years. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Modisette was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church. She loved helping people and taking care of them. She loved to cook for her friends and family. Mrs. Modisette had resided in Angelina County all her life.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Leonard E. Modisette of Pollok; her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Patsy Modisette of Diboll, Collis and Joy Modisette of Pollok, and Kenny and Jeanne Modisette of Pollok; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; special cousin, Martha Gresham of Lufkin; special friend, Jeffie Oliver; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Modisette in death were her parents; sister, Donnie Julian; and brothers, Ralph Palmore, Vernon Palmore and Raleigh Palmore.
Pallbearers will be Eric Modisette, Brent Modisette, Wade Modisette, Richard Palmore, Mark Palmore, David Palmore and Ronnie Julian.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Modisette, Victor Garcia, Nick Terry and Troy Christmas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Keltys First Baptist Church, 2402 N. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904; to O'Quinn Baptist Church, 7433 Highway 69 North, Pollok, Texas 75969; or to Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church, 5003 Fuller Springs Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
