Graveside services for Modenia Odom, 93, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Burketown Cemetery in Apple Springs. Pastor Doug McBride will officiate the service.

Mrs. Odom was born February 16, 1919 in Apple Springs, Texas to William R. and Mary Magdelene (Kendrick) Due. She departed for her Heavenly home Monday, March 5, 2012 to reunite with her husband Gordon Odom, who preceded her in death in 1973, and other loved ones. Mrs. Odom attended Providence Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian.

Mrs. Odom loved her family and most of all her grandchildren. She enjoyed a good game of dominos and loved listening to Christian music. Mrs. Odom worked as an LVN at Memorial Hospital and Woodland Heights. She was passionate about nursing and loved to help others.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Billy Odom of Lufkin; daughters, Linda Slaten and husband Rodney of Jasper and Joyce Waller and husband Jerry of Lufkin; six grandchildren, Diedre Waller of Galveston, Mona Melton and husband Bob of Lufkin, Shane Waller and wife Michelle of Lufkin, Scott Waller and wife Julie of The Woodlands, Lance Slaten and wife Lindsay of Longview, and Jared Slaten and wife Tina of Woodville; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Slaten, Lance Slaten, Scott Waller, Shane Waller, Bob Melton and Fernando Valadez.
