Mass of Catholic Burial for Sofia Piña Carrillo will be celebrated Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Diboll with Father Victor A. Hamon and Deacon Jesus Reyes, celebrants. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the church.
Sofia Piña Carrillo, 54, of Diboll was born September 18, 1957 in Jamaica, Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico to the late Paula Acevedo Piña and Modesto Piña. She died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Diboll from injuries sustained in an accident.
Mrs. Carrillo was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and had lived in Diboll for the past 33 years.
Esta gran mujer, agarrada de la mano de Dios, fue la fundación de esta familia. Nunca nos olvidaremos de su sonrisa, su manera de ser. Sofia fue esposa, madre, y abuela primero. Le encantaba coser, hacer manualidades y cocinar. Una verdadera chef. Pero mas que nada le encantaba pasarsela con sus nietas y nieto.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Jose Carrillo; daughter and son-in-law, Jesucita and Aaron Menz and their daughters, Eva Sofia Menz and Emilia Menz; son, Melecio Carrillo; son, Jose Angel Carrillo and his fiancée Sonia Gonzalez; daughter, Alejandra Carrillo and her fiancè, Gabriel Compean; daughter and son-in-law, Damaris and Daniel Silva and their daughters, Danai Silva and Dalila Silva; son, Isaac Carrillo; brothers, Bernabe Piña, Basilio Piña, Gregorio Piña and Antonio Piña, and their families; sisters, Maria Guadalupe Piña, Martina Camarena, Efigenia Soto, and Modesta Ortez, and their families; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren and other relatives.
Mrs. Carrillo's daughter, Tavita Carrillo, and her grandson, King ""Rey"" Sebastian Compean, also died in the accident.
Mrs. Carrillo was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Raquel Piña.
Pallbearers will be Jose Angel Carrillo, Melecio Carrillo, Aaron Menz, Daniel Silva, Jose Santana and Jose Carrillo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bernabe Piña, Basilio Piña, Gregorio Piña and Antonio Piña.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening prior to the rosary at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
