David Wayne Wisener

Funeral services for David Wayne Wisener, 50, of Lufkin will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church with Pastor Ford Adkins, Brother Roger Fancher, and Kevin Wisener officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Cemetery.

Mr. Wisener was born October 12, 1961 in Lufkin, Texas to Donald W. and Linda Beth (Freeman) Wisener, and died Thursday, March 15, 2012 near Midland. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and a member of the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church.

While in high school, Mr. Wisener won the 4H Gold Star, the highest achievement for 4H. He also won several Grand Champion awards for dairy cattle and other livestock. He was a High School Rodeo Champion Bullrider, and a professional bullrider and bullfighter. He had a passion for producing great rodeo bulls, and loved roping. He was responsible for teaching and encouraging hundreds of youth in the sport of rodeo. Mr. Wisener was the General Manager of Lufkin Ranch and Rodeo. He loved spending time at family gatherings. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and attended many of their home games.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Hailey and Cory Burns of Huntington; son, Jordan Wisener of Lufkin; grandson, Weston Burns of Huntington; parents, Donald W. and Linda Beth Wisener of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and James Whittemore of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Sharon Wisener and Kevin and Jerrie Wisener, all of Lufkin; special friends, Chuck and Patti Griffith of Lufkin; mother of Hailey and Jordan, Leshia Johnson and husband Jamie of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Tim Newton, Stacy McGee, Chris Prewitt, William Dupree, Joe Ed Eddings, Terry Vann, Chet Strain and Glenn Sullivan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 118, Lufkin, Texas 75902.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
