Walter Shannon Smith

Funeral services for Walter Shannon Smith, 38, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Clawson Assembly of God Church with Pastor Kevin Poage, Brother Kenneth Reynolds and Wayne Norsworthy officiating.

Shannon was born September 5, 1973 in Lufkin, Texas to Patti (Corbin) and Jimmy Smith, and went to be with our Lord Jesus Sunday, March 18, 2012 in a local hospital.

Shannon was employed with Creekwood Land and Timber. His employer, Michael Sessions, saw him develop into a gifted Forestry Technician. Shannon participated in the Kairos Walk #3. He also had a passion to share his faith with others. He was the lead man at Seasons of Hope Center. Recovery Ministry was his heart. Shannon was a member of the Clawson Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carlene Smith of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Jessica and Jake Byrum of Hudson, Jamee Smith of Hudson and Kennlei Bartee of Trinity; sons, James Smith of Groveton and Mason Smith (Widener) of Huntsville; grandson, Remington Ezequal ""Remi"" Byrum of Hudson; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Jamie Sims of Carrollton and Tashina and Adam Scott of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Alicia Proctor of Hudson; four grandchildren; father and wife, Jimmy and Betty Smith of Huntington; mother and husband, Patti and Vance Steagall of Burnett; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryne and Wayne Norsworthy of Groveton; brother and sister-in-law, Ward and Liz Klare of Littlefield; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Michael Sessions, Noel Proctor, Jr., Jake Byrum, Wayne Norsworthy, Cory Norsworthy and Gary Dean Havard.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Smith, Ward Klare, Tommy Miller and Kenneth Reynolds.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seasons of Hope Center, 364 Foster Road, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
