Funeral services for Boley Watson Massingill, 84, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend David Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Massingill was born June 18, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Inez (Gann) and Manuel Elby Massingill. He died Monday, April 9, 2012 in a Lufkin nursing facility.
Mr. Massingill was a retired surveyor for the Texas Department of Transportation, following 35 years of service. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Massingill was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon for more than 40 years. He had been a resident of Lufkin and Angelina County all his life.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, William A. ""Bill"" Massingill, Sally and Drew Squyres, Betty and Bill Camp, Robert and Beverly Massingill, Tommy and Rachel Massingill, Jim and Beth Massingill, and Cathy and Andy Hankins, all of Lufkin; eighteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother, Manuel Massingill of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Leroy Green of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Mozelle McCarty of Vista, California; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mr. Massingill in death were his parents; his wife, Maurine Massingill in 2008; grandson, Paul Trenton Squyres; sisters, Lucille McDaid and Louise Molandes; brother, L.B. Massingill; and sisters-in-law, Lorena Allen, Louetta Thiboutot and Annabelle Gracia.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Slack, Mike Kennerly, Mark Thompson, Will Handy, Craig Jasper and Randy Green.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy Massingill, Scott Rushing, Mark Squyres, Adam Camp, Eric Camp, Bryan Massingill, David Jones and Ryley Huggins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Cemetery Association, 136 Wade Nixon Road, Diboll, Texas 75941.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Lenin Pinnamaneni and all of Mr. Massingill's private caregivers over the last 6-1/2 years.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
